HANOVER TOWNSHIP — On Monday, August 11, James Gianguercio, a 45-year-old resident of Boonton, was arrested by Police Officer Michael Kaiser of the Hanover Township Police Department. The arrest followed a report of a potentially intoxicated driver, which led Officer Kaiser to conduct a motor vehicle stop on Whippany Road.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Kaiser observed a glass vial containing liquid in plain view. During the interaction, Gianguercio was asked to exit the vehicle in order to perform field sobriety testing. While conducting the investigation, officers noticed a conspicuous bulge in Gianguercio’s pocket, which was discovered to be drug paraphernalia.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of multiple types of controlled dangerous substances, including heroin, cocaine, prescription legend drugs, and steroids.
Gianguercio was arrested and charged with multiple counts, including possession of controlled dangerous substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous traffic offenses. He was later released with a scheduled court date.
