HANOVER TOWNSHIP — On August 12, 2025, Hanover Township Police Officer Jake Crane arrested Nylah Steele, 26, of Whippany, on a charge of disorderly conduct.

Police were dispatched to the Red Carpet Inn, located at 1255 Route 10, on a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, officers encountered Steele, who was described as highly intoxicated and causing a disturbance.

According to police, as Officer Crane attempted to walk past her, Steele used her arms in an effort to block his path and continued her actions despite repeated commands to stop.

She was taken into custody and transported to the hospital due to her level of intoxication. Steele was later released with a summons and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
