JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP – The Jefferson Township Police Department released its February 2026 Monthly Report, highlighting a busy month of enforcement activity, community engagement, and emergency response.
Officers conducted 233 motor vehicle stops and responded to 55 motor vehicle crashes, including a DWI-related crash on Berkshire Valley Road in which the driver fled into nearby woods before being located with assistance from the Morris County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit and placed under arrest.
The department also reported 3,996 calls for service, along with 1,536 property checks and 291 school checks, demonstrating a continued commitment to proactive policing and community safety.
In addition, officers handled 92 EMS calls, 14 disputes, 10 school drills, and 7 adult arrests during the month.
Community policing efforts remained strong, including participation in local events such as “Police Officer Pie in the Face,” Wizards basketball activities, and a viral social media video featuring School Resource and Class III officers at Briggs School that garnered over 6.1 million views.
Notable incidents also included an intoxicated and disorderly person arrest at a local establishment and a dumpster fire at Camp Jefferson, which was quickly contained by the Jefferson Township Fire Department.
The department continues to support the state’s “Goal: Zero” campaign, aimed at eliminating traffic fatalities through education and enforcement.
