MORRIS COUNTY — Golfers, businesses and community members are invited to tee off for a great cause at the CCM Foundation Golf Classic on Monday, October 5, at Spring Brook Country Club in Morristown, one of North Jersey’s premier private clubs. The annual fundraiser will feature a guest appearance by sports commentator John “Harp” Harper.
The annual fundraiser brings together members of the business community, alumni, friends and supporters of County College of Morris (CCM) for a day of golf, networking and friendly competition, all while directly impacting student scholarships, athletics and campus resources. The event also provides an opportunity for businesses and industry partners to strengthen their connection to the college and invest in students who will become the region’s future workforce.
The day begins at 10:00 a.m. with registration and a barbecue lunch, followed by a 12:00 p.m. shotgun start on Spring Brook Country Club’s championship 18-hole course. Following the tournament, participants and guests will gather for an open-bar cocktail reception, buffet dinner and awards program. Club amenities include bag drop-off, a driving range and locker rooms, and everyone will receive a special thank-you gift plus the chance to participate in a tricky tray, 50/50 raffle and other prize drawings. Golfers will also have an opportunity to play and mingle with CCM’s top golf athletes.

John “Harp” Harper, a longtime sports columnist and television commentator whose career has focused primarily on baseball, will be in attendance at the golf outing. A New Jersey native, Harper played baseball and basketball at Parsippany Hills High School and baseball at the University of Bridgeport before winning a national fast-pitch softball championship with the famed Raybestos Cardinals and representing the United States at the World Softball Championships. He began his journalism career at the Morristown Daily Record before moving to the New York Post and Daily News, where he covered the Mets and Yankees, and later became a familiar television presence on SNY. Guests will have the opportunity to chat with Harper and hear stories from nearly five decades of experience in sports journalism, ballparks and broadcast studios.
There are many ways for businesses and community members to support the event, from playing golf to sponsorships such as a tee or beverage cart sign or an ad in the event journal. Participants are encouraged to register early, as space is limited. Individuals and organizations unable to attend can make a donation in support of CCM student scholarships, athletics and campus resources.
