RANDOLPH — County College of Morris and Table of Hope will once again help local students prepare for the upcoming school year through their annual Backpack Giveaway.
Now in its sixth year, the community event will take place on Friday, August 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Parking Lot 1 at County College of Morris, located at 214 Center Grove Road in Randolph.
Students will receive backpacks filled with essential school supplies, along with fresh produce for their families. The giveaway is open to Morris County residents experiencing financial hardship, and families are encouraged to register in advance at tableofhopenj.org/backpack-registration.
Backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The event will operate as a drive-through distribution, and participants must remain inside their vehicles. Walk-up distribution will not be available.
The Backpack Giveaway has become an annual tradition reflecting the shared commitment of County College of Morris, Table of Hope and numerous community organizations to supporting Morris County families. The two organizations also partner each November for a Thanksgiving food distribution that provides holiday meals to hundreds of families.
“At County College of Morris, we are proud to be the community’s college, and that means showing up for our neighbors in meaningful ways,” CCM President Dr. Anthony J. Iacono said.
Iacono said the partnership demonstrates what can be accomplished when local organizations and volunteers unite around a common purpose, helping students begin the school year with the supplies they need while connecting families with additional resources.
The giveaway is supported by state and local leaders, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Alstede Farms, corporate sponsors, community organizations and CCM employees. Student-athletes, student leaders and other volunteers will also assist with the distribution.
Founded in 2011, Table of Hope works to address food insecurity and other essential needs through educational support, food distribution and community engagement programs.
