JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — A Jefferson Township woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop Monday night, according to the Denville Police Department.
Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Franklin Road near Route 46 at approximately 10:35 p.m. on June 29 after observing a vehicle speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign. The driver was identified as Carolyn Vanlenten, 22, of Jefferson Township.
While speaking with Vanlenten, officers observed signs of possible impairment. Standardized field sobriety tests indicated she was operating the vehicle while intoxicated, and she was placed under arrest.
Vanlenten was transported to Denville Police Headquarters for processing and was issued motor vehicle summonses for operating under the influence of liquor or drugs (N.J.S.A. 39:4-50), reckless driving (N.J.S.A. 39:4-96), careless driving (N.J.S.A. 39:4-97), speeding (N.J.S.A. 39:4-98), and disregard of a stop sign (N.J.S.A. 39:4-144).
She was released pending a future court appearance in Denville Municipal Court.
