Florham Park Set to Celebrate National Night Out This Tuesday

FLORHAM PARK —Florham Park Police Department is set to roll out a grand ‘National Night Out’ festivity from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1.

This complimentary and open-to-all event will occur outdoors at the recreational center at 111 Ridgedale Avenue, behind the municipal complex.

Returning this year will be live music, complemented by a complimentary family barbecue and pizza. Participants can also expect to enjoy a variety of free giveaways, exciting door prizes, a photo booth, and more fun-filled activities, including ice cream and face painting.”

Dover Man Arrested in Homeless Man’s Homicide; Authorities Investigating

MORRIS COUNTY —Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Dover Police Department Chief Jonathan Delaney confirmed the arrest of Wilfredo Cabrera-Masariegos, 34, Dover, in connection with a death investigation in Dover.

At approximately 1:56 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, Dover Police officers responded to the railroad tracks near West Clinton Street in Dover on a report of a deceased person.

On arrival, they located a deceased male on the railroad tracks. An examination by the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed blunt force injury to the victim’s head, and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

The victim has been identified as Rene Rivera Hernandez, 47, a homeless individual who frequented the Dover area.

Further investigation revealed that Cabrera-Masariegos and the victim were on the railroad tracks under a highway bridge in the late evening of July 25. Cabrera-Masariegos allegedly struck the victim in the head with a rock and fled the scene.

As a result of the investigation, Cabrera-Masariegos was charged with one count of second-degree Manslaughter, one count of third-degree Possession of a Weapon, and one count of fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

Cabrera-Masariegos was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.

Numerous law enforcement agencies have participated in the investigation, including members of the Dover Police Department, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

Sheriff K-9 Tracks and Finds Alleged Burglary Suspect

MORRIS COUNTY — The the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Madison Police, and the Morris County Office of Emergency Management worked collaboratively capture an alleged car burglary suspect, on Wednesday, July 26.

All units were requested to respond to the area of Noe Avenue neighborhood of the Borough of Madison after being alerted to an individual who was observed to be acting suspiciously. The Morris County Sheriff’s Office canine team of Det. Marc Adamsky and K-9 Tim was able to establish a track of the suspect and locate him in the Crestview Avenue area of Madison Borough. The suspect, identified as Thomas Rivera, a 20 year old male from Jersey City, was found in possession of keys to a vehicle which had been burglarized in Madison earlier this morning.

Sheriff James M. Gannon said, “This criminal activity is too prevalent in our communities. Potentially dangerous individuals are frequently attempting to victimize good people. I am so pleased to see our partnerships working together and succeeding; all with the resolve of keeping us safe.”

Madison Borough Police Chief John R. Miscia stated, “I would like to commend the law enforcement officers on scene for a job well done. The quick thinking and great investigative teamwork by both our officers of the Madison Police Department, and our partners at the Morris County Office of Emergency Management and Morris County Sheriff’s Office was evident following the arrest of Mr. Rivera. The fine police work is a testament to the strong partnership that we have between our Morris County.”

Dover Police Make Disturbing Discovery on Railroad Tracks

DOVER — At 1:56 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, Dover Police officers made a troubling discovery of a deceased male on the railroad tracks near West Clinton Street in Dover. According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, the victim’s identity has not been disclosed.

While the incident is under investigation, authorities have assured the public that there is no perceived threat to safety. However, any individuals with potentially relevant information are urged to come forward and assist the ongoing investigation.

Hanover Township Police Arrest 79-Year-Old for Child Pornography Possession

HANOVER — On July 16, 2023, the Hanover Township Police Department received a concerning report regarding Mr. William Morehouse, a 79-year-old resident of Hanover Township. The report alleged that Mr. Morehouse was involved in downloading and viewing child pornography on his personal computer. Acting swiftly, Detective David Littman initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.

Detective Littman obtained a search warrant for Mr. Morehouse’s residence, vehicle, and all electronic devices based on the gathered evidence. The joint efforts of the Hanover Township Police Department, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, and Morris County Sheriff’s Special Operations Team led to the execution of the search warrant on Monday, July 24. During the operation, several electronic devices were seized and examined thoroughly.

As a result of the initial search, Mr. William Morehouse was subsequently charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Possession of Child Pornography. Following his arrest, he was held in custody at the Morris County Correctional Facility pending his court date. The authorities are committed to ensuring that justice is served, and the case will be thoroughly handled in the legal process to protect the welfare of children and uphold the law.

Officer Matt Gallagher Apprehends Two Brooklyn Residents for Shoplifting

HANOVER — On July 13, 2023, Officer Matt Gallagher swiftly responded to a shoplifting incident in progress at Wegman’s, resulting in the arrest of two individuals from Brooklyn, NY. The suspects were identified as Ms. Mayra Hernandez-Granados, a 30-year-old, and Ms. Annie Mora-Corredor, a 28-year-old.

Upon arriving at the scene, Officer Gallagher observed the two individuals in the parking lot with stolen merchandise valued at $1886.00 in their possession. Without delay, both suspects were arrested and charged with shoplifting and conspiracy to commit shoplifting.

Ms. Hernandez-Granados faced additional charges for using an anti-shoplifting device, further compounding her legal situation. On the other hand, Ms. Mora-Corredor was charged with resisting and obstructing and being issued a motor vehicle summons for driving without a license.

Following their arrest, both individuals were released, pending their respective court dates to address the charges brought against them. The authorities remain committed to ensuring a fair and thorough legal process for all parties involved.

Officer Carlos Najera Apprehends Red Carpet Inn Employee for Sexual Assault

HANOVER — On July 13, 2023, Officer Carlos Najera swiftly responded to a distressing sexual assault report at the Red Carpet Inn. The victim recounted an incident where she was inappropriately touched in the lobby by Mr. Shrikantb Limbachia, a 77-year-old hotel employee.

Upon interviewing the victim, Officer Najera learned that another individual had also contacted authorities with a similar complaint against Mr. Limbachia. The surveillance camera footage was reviewed to corroborate the victims’ statements, providing evidence that supported their claims.

Given the compelling evidence, Mr. Limbachia was arrested and charged with criminal sexual contact. Following the arrest, he was released pending his scheduled court date to address the serious charges brought against him. The authorities are committed to ensuring that justice is served for the victims and that appropriate legal actions are taken against the accused.

Officer Matt Gallagher Apprehends Two Bronx Residents for Shoplifting

HANOVER — On July 9, 2023, Hanover Township Police Officer Matt Gallagher successfully arrested two individuals involved in a shoplifting incident at Wegman’s. The suspects were identified as Mr. Michael Santiago, a 51-year-old, and Mr. Michael Santiago, a 41-year-old, both hailing from the Bronx, NY.

Upon receiving a report of a shoplifting in progress at Wegman’s, officers were dispatched to the scene and described the vehicle and the suspects. Upon arrival, Officer Gallagher and his team observed the two individuals loading stolen merchandise into the rear of their vehicle. They immediately instructed the suspects to halt, but both attempted to flee. However, they were swiftly apprehended.

A thorough search of the suspect’s vehicle led to the recovery of stolen merchandise worth $1352.90. As a result, both individuals were charged with shoplifting and conspiracy to shoplift.

Additionally, Michael Santiago, the 51-year-old suspect, faced further charges of obstruction, resisting arrest, and tampering with public records. He was also connected to prior shoplifting incidents from earlier in June.

Following their arrest, both individuals were released pending their court dates to address the charges brought against them.
