BOONTON TOWNSHIP — On February 24, 2020 patrols received a “be on the lookout” message over the radio for a possible intoxicated driver.
After canvassing the area, the vehicle was located and after observing the vehicle cross out of its lane several times.
The vehicle was then stopped in the area of Old Denville Road. Officers then made contact with the driver, identified as Leslie Roman, 69, Boonton Township.
Patrols then conducted field sobriety tests, which were failed by Mr. Roman.
At that time officers placed Mr. Roman under arrest and transported him back to Boonton Township Police Headquarters. Roman was processed, underwent breath testing and was ultimately charged with DWI, Failure to Maintain Lane, Reckless Driving, and Careless Driving before being released to a responsible party pending a future court date.
