HANOVER — On June 14, 2023, Mr. Roman Plant, 18, Sandy, UT, was charged by Officer Carlos Najera for failing to obtain a solicitors permit. Officer Najera responded to a solicitor complaint on Handzel Road, where he found Mr. Plant going door-to-door without a permit.

Further checks showed Mr. Plant had previously been warned about obtaining a permit. Consequently, he was issued a special complaint for the offense and released, awaiting his court date.

Chapter 243 of the Township of Hanover Code states in pertinent part as follows: Registration with the Township is required to canvas, solicit or peddle on the public streets or highways or upon other public lands; call from house to house or from door to door soliciting money, selling, causing to be sold, offering for sale or taking orders for present or future delivery of merchandise of any description whatsoever; or go from door to door to obtain contributions, orders, subscriptions, making canvasses or surveys, or other solicitation.
