DOVER — At the Town of Dover’s Mayor and Board of Aldermen gathering on Tuesday, October 24, the officials approved Ordinance No. 25-2023. This ordinance officially replaces the title “Board of Aldermen” with “Council Member.”

Historically, the inaugural governing body of the Town of Dover in 1869 went by the name “Council.”

The ordinance expressed, “The Town of Dover’s governing body is dedicated to promoting equality and aims to make its governance more inclusive and reflective of its residents, business proprietors, and visitors.”
