EAST HANOVER — On Sunday, September 15th, 2024, the Hanover Park High School Band Parents Association is organizing a special event that blends community service with support for the arts: a Clothing Drive to raise funds for the Hanover Park Marching Band. The drive will occur from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the high school’s parking lot, strategically in front of the band room.

Hanover Park High School is located at 63 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, East Hanover.

This initiative invites community members to donate unwanted items, ranging from clothes and shoes to linens, tablecloths, and small children’s toys. The collected items will be distributed to people in need, and all proceeds from the drive will directly benefit the marching band.

The band parents association is particularly focused on collecting items that can be easily packaged in well-tied trash bags. Items such as books, CDs, VHS tapes, furniture, electronics, and ride-on toys are excluded from the drive. This selective approach ensures that the donations are manageable and can be efficiently processed to maximize the band’s financial benefit.

What makes this event especially important is its dual impact. Not only will the donations help those in need, but the funds raised will also support the marching band, which relies on such community-driven initiatives for its operations. The more the community contributes, the more funds the band will receive, particularly since clothing donations tend to bring in the most money per pound.

The Band Parents Association encourages everyone to share this event with family and friends to help gather as much support as possible. For those unable to attend the drive during the scheduled hours, alternative arrangements can be made by contacting Beth at HPBPA.info@gmail.com.

The Hanover Park High School Band Parents Association extends its heartfelt thanks to all who plan to participate, emphasizing that this collective effort will significantly contribute to the success of the Hanover Park Marching Band.

This event underscores the power of community involvement, showing how a simple donation can have far-reaching effects on local arts education and those in need.
