JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — A Hopatcong woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a two-vehicle crash on Nolans Point Road on June 16, according to a Jefferson Township Police Department report.
Denise L. Sloane, 62, was arrested at 6:11 p.m. after police said her vehicle crossed the centerline on Nolans Point Road near Castle Rock Road and struck a second vehicle. Sloane was handcuffed and taken into custody following the crash, according to the report.
According to the crash investigation report, a vehicle driven by Diane L. Tyrpak was traveling west on Nolans Point Road when Sloane’s vehicle crossed the centerline and struck it. Sloane was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated, the report states. Police said Sloane refused a breath test at the scene.
Sloane was charged with the following:
- Driving under the influence of liquor or drugs (39:4-50)
- Reckless driving (39:4-96)
- Traffic on marked lanes (39:4-88)
- Refusal to submit to a chemical test (39:4-50.4a)
- Consent to take samples of breath (39:4-50.2)
Sloane is due to appear in Jefferson Township Municipal Court on July 9 at 1:00 p.m. The case was investigated by Traffic Safety Officer Charles Paskas.
