BOONTON — Rides, games and food stands filled the Boonton High School field this weekend as the Boonton Fire Department held its annual Labor Day carnival, part of a weekend that also included the department’s 135th anniversary parade down Main Street.
The carnival, held on the field on Lathrop Avenue, ran Saturday from 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and continues Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Blue Sky Amusements supplied thrill rides, family and kiddie rides, and games of skill, drawing children and families out for an evening on the midway.
Food stands sold pizza and zeppole, funnel cakes, clam chowder and steamers, hot dogs, sausage and peppers, and chili cheese fries, alongside a cocktail tent for adults. Admission to the carnival is free.
Proceeds from the carnival support the all-volunteer Boonton Fire Department, which responds to more than four hundred calls a year. Fireworks are scheduled for Sunday evening, alongside the carnival’s Super 50/50 drawing.
