MORRIS COUNTY — A Paterson resident was arrested on an outstanding warrant after Denville police spotted a vehicle illegally parked on a crosswalk downtown Monday afternoon.
According to the Denville Police Department, on Monday, September 21, at approximately 2:18 p.m., officers observed an unoccupied vehicle illegally parked on the crosswalk near the intersection of Diamond Spring Road and Church Street.
Moments later, the driver entered the vehicle, prompting officers to conduct a motor vehicle stop on Broadway. During the stop, the driver was identified as Sasha Torres, 39, of Paterson, and officers determined that Torres had an active $2,500 traffic warrant issued by the Newark Municipal Court.
Torres was placed under arrest and transported to Denville Police Headquarters for processing. Following processing, Torres posted the required bail and was issued summonses for the following:
- Improper Parking on Crosswalk (N.J.S.A. 39:4-138B)
- Obstruction of Windshield (N.J.S.A. 39:3-74)
Torres was released with a future court appearance.
