MORRIS COUNTY — An East Hanover man was arrested Sunday, September 20, after police said he falsely identified himself as a New Jersey State Police contractor and an active member of the East Hanover Fire Department while at Denville Police Headquarters.
According to Denville Police, Robert Jocher, 55, came to police headquarters at approximately 9:00 a.m. to report a deceased animal located on private property.
While at headquarters, Jocher was observed wearing an East Hanover Fire Department badge. During the course of the investigation, police said Jocher falsely identified himself as a contractor for the New Jersey State Police and as an active member of the East Hanover Fire Department.
Jocher was placed under arrest and charged with:
- Impersonating a Public Servant (N.J.S.A. 2C:28-8a)
He was issued a complaint summons and released with a future court date in Denville Municipal Court.
