JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — Councilwoman Yvonne Ioffredo thanked residents and congratulated her opponents after winning the unexpired term on the Jefferson Township Council in Tuesday’s general election.
“I want to thank and congratulate Alejandro Torres and Christopher Peters for a race very well run. They are formidable opponents and I am honored to have them both on the ticket. I would encourage them both to continue to be involved in this township’s political future,” said Ioffredo.
“I also want to thank the citizens of Jefferson for their votes and confidence in my place on the Council. This position is extremely important to me and I will do my absolute best to keep Jefferson the kind of ‘home town’ we all love.”
According to unofficial results, Ioffredo received 3,656 votes, or 49.11 percent. Democrat Christopher A. Peters received 2,732 votes, or 36.70 percent, and Independent Alejandro Torres received 1,047 votes, or 14.07 percent. Ioffredo, who was appointed to the council in August, will serve the remainder of the term vacated by former Councilman Dan Schultz.
