MORRIS COUNTY — New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced overnight lane closures on I-80 westbound as a bridge repair project begins in Montville, Morris County.
Beginning at 9:00 p.m. tonight, Thursday, October 22, NJDOT’s contractor, Mount Construction, is scheduled to close the right lane on I-80 westbound near Mile Post 48.4 before the bridge over the Passaic River in Montville. This closure will allow the contractor to install a construction barrier in the right shoulder, creating a work zone to complete steel structural repairs on the bridge. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained overnight.
By 7:00 a.m. Friday, October 23, the right lane will be reopened. The shoulder will remain closed for approximately four months as the contractor works to complete repairs on the bridge.
Portable Variable Message Signs are being utilized to provide advance notification of traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
