MADISON — Madison’s annual fall festival, Bottle Hill Day, celebrated its 51st year under sunny skies on Saturday, October 3.
Thousands of people wandered about downtown Madison, where the streets were blocked off and lined with more than 225 vendors, plus four stages with live music and three amusement areas. There was also a car show hosted by the Madison Chamber of Commerce and Madison Policemen’s Benevolent Association Local 92.
The event has grown yearly since it was first established in 1974 by Mayor Elizabeth Baumgartner. The Downtown Development Commission organizes the event to promote economic growth and business development.
The name comes from Madison’s 1715 establishment of the village called “Bottle Hill.” Over the years, it has grown, evolving into a family, entertainment, and community celebration that draws between 10,000 and 20,000 people to the heart of Madison every fall.
