DOVER — Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, the discount chain known for its “Good Stuff Cheap” slogan, has opened its first North Jersey store in the former Big Lots space at 550 Mount Pleasant Avenue, next to Home Depot.

The store held its grand opening on Thursday, October 29, and is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Ollie’s sells closeout, excess-inventory and overstocked brand-name merchandise, including food, toys, clothing, housewares and furniture, at prices the company says are up to 70 percent below those at traditional retailers.

The Dover location is the chain’s twelfth in New Jersey. Most of its other New Jersey stores are in Central and South Jersey, including Bridgeton, Browns Mills, Cherry Hill, Clementon, Deptford, Egg Harbor Township, Hamilton, Lawrence Township, Lumberton, Old Bridge and Toms River.

The store fills space left vacant when Big Lots closed stores after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Ollie’s has taken over dozens of former Big Lots locations nationwide, including the New Jersey stores in Clementon and Lumberton.

Headquartered in Pennsylvania, Ollie’s operates more than 700 stores across the country and expects to continue expanding, with a long-term goal of more than 1,300 locations nationwide.

Shoppers can join Ollie’s Army, the store’s free rewards program, at the register. New members receive 15 percent off a future purchase and earn one point for every dollar spent, with rewards for every 250 points.
