HANOVER — On July 9, 2023, Hanover Township Police Officer Matt Gallagher successfully arrested two individuals involved in a shoplifting incident at Wegman’s. The suspects were identified as Mr. Michael Santiago, a 51-year-old, and Mr. Michael Santiago, a 41-year-old, both hailing from the Bronx, NY.
Upon receiving a report of a shoplifting in progress at Wegman’s, officers were dispatched to the scene and described the vehicle and the suspects. Upon arrival, Officer Gallagher and his team observed the two individuals loading stolen merchandise into the rear of their vehicle. They immediately instructed the suspects to halt, but both attempted to flee. However, they were swiftly apprehended.
A thorough search of the suspect’s vehicle led to the recovery of stolen merchandise worth $1352.90. As a result, both individuals were charged with shoplifting and conspiracy to shoplift.
Additionally, Michael Santiago, the 51-year-old suspect, faced further charges of obstruction, resisting arrest, and tampering with public records. He was also connected to prior shoplifting incidents from earlier in June.
Following their arrest, both individuals were released pending their court dates to address the charges brought against them.
