Owners Mohamed Kandil and Summer Elhendy proudly holding the ribbon as Mayor Lauren Barnett prepares to cut the ribbon during the grand opening celebration.

Mohamed and Summer are two very motivated and hardworking individuals with the shared goal of making positive societal change while helping as many people as we can along the way.

They both have obtained a bachelor’s degree from notable universities and were very active on campus between the student government and being a part of the executive bored of multiple clubs.  Shortly after graduating they both had continued to a career in the Insurance world working under an agent.

Throughout their time with local agents they acquired many skills that lead to their success as producers. Now they would like to take those skills they developed and join forces and created their own agency with Goosehead Insurance.

Working in the insurance world they have seen so many horror stories of people who were not covered properly or missing certain coverage all together, or even just paying too much for less product.

As agents, Mohamed and Summer will make it their mission to eliminate all these terrible possibilities for all their clients. ‘We are not going into this venture just to sell as many policies as we can at all cost, it stemmed from our passion in the industry and really making sure that we are helping as many people as we can be properly protected, at rate that will not take food off their tables, said Mohamed.

“Therefore, rest assured we will not want to take you on as client if we are not able to add more value to your life by doing so. And we are especially excited to be a part of the Goosehead family as their values fall perfectly in line with what we want for our Agency,” said Summer.

MORRIS COUNTY — County College of Morris (CCM) recently was recognized by two key state business groups for its excellence in preparing students and employees to meet the needs of industry and for serving as an educational leader and valued business partner.

Recently the college was presented with an Industry Leader Best Practice Award by the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ). This marked the second year in a row CCM received a CIANJ Best Practice Award. Once again, the award recognized CCM for the strength of its programs offered through its Center for Workforce Development and the construction of an Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center, slated to open in 2010.

A panel of judges, including Dale Caldwell, executive director of the Farleigh Dickinson University Rothman Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Robert Stramara, chief operating officer of the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program (NJMEP); Dean Paranicas, CEO of the Healthcare Institute of New Jersey and CIANJ President Anthony Russo, reviewed the submissions and selected the most extraordinary ones to be honored at the conference.

CCM President Anthony J. Iacono served as the opening keynote speaker for the awards ceremony held at Nanina’s in the Park in Belleville. During his remarks, Iacono said that the college’s success relies on the strength of its partnerships with business and industry and other organizations.

“As I like to say, CCM does great things every day, but we do even greater things with and because of our partners,” said Iacono.

Included among those partnerships is an online course the college is providing in conjunction with NJMEP to provide food safety training for employees in the food production and manufacturing industry. CCM also is the lead organization in a consortium, supported by a $4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, to develop apprenticeship models for the advanced manufacturing industry.

The second recognition was presented to Iacono by NJBIZ, which named him to its Education Power 50 list. One of the leading business publications in the state, NJBIZ in its September 23 issue praised Iacono for the college’s work to provide skilled professional for the manufacturing industry. In the article, Iacono noted, “Our work is to help others to do their work better.”

East Hanover Police Department wins First-Responders Challenge… then shares prize with team representing Florham PD

EAST HANOVER — While the team from East Hanover Police Department captured the East Hanover Funplex location’s First-Responders Challenge, members decided to share their prize with their competition, the team from Florham Park Police Department. As a result, rather than The Funplex hosting (entirely free-of-charge) a fundraising event to benefit the winning department’s charity of choice, it will host a combined event that will benefit charities selected by both competing departments.

“Lots of smiles, laughs, and great food last night, and all to benefit one great cause … which quickly turned into two!” said Funplex CEO, Brian Williams. “What could be better? These two local police departments – with family and friends cheering from the sidelines – cooked, raced, and sweated it out. Now, I can’t wait to watch both teams get together again during their joint fundraiser.”

The First Responders Challenge was an extremely competitive – and really fun — evening of Go-Kart racing, Hyper-bowling, and a culminating, Jersey Shore boardwalk-style food cook-off. Judges for the cook-off – which featured each team preparing a food item of its choice – were actress Rylee King; culinary expert Karen Fischer; and blogger Yully Hernandez.

The backdrop for the event was the Funplex’s all-new, $5 million boardwalk area. Themed as iconic Jersey shore, the boardwalk features two new indoor rides, “Reverse Time” and “Drop-N-Twist”. The upgraded entertainment space is the first location in the state to offer HyperBowling, an interactive set of bowling-related games designed around an innovative bumper system. In addition, there is a 6 lane VIP bowling suite, a reconfigured go-kart track, and a restaurant that offers a wide variety of food options.

The Funplex entertainment center in East Hanover, NJ offers more than 100,000 square feet of activities and is the go-to venue for corporate events, parties, or simply a day of family fun. Highlights include laser tag, arcade games, bowling, a water park, and attractions for everyone. Another Funplex entertainment center is located in Mount Laurel, NJ.
