Suspect surrenders after stand-off with Police

EAST HANOVER — East Hanover Police Department received a call from West Caldwell Police Department requesting assistance in locating an individual who had just committed an act of Domestic Violence in their town, on Thursday, July 18 at 8:30 a.m.

West Caldwell Police Department reported the suspect was staying at a residence in East Hanover, located in the East Hanover Condo, off of River Road.

Patrols arrived and were unsuccessful in getting anyone to come to the door at the residence.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team and Prosecutor’s Office Crisis Negotiation Unit were contacted. Ultimately the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody. He was a 47-year old West Caldwell resident.
