JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — The Jefferson Township Council voted 4-0 Monday to appoint Yvonne Ioffredo to fill the council seat vacated by former Councilman Dan Schultz.
The vote came during a special meeting held at the Jefferson Municipal Building. Ioffredo was one of three nominees put forward by the Jefferson Township Republican Committee, along with Bob Vander Ploeg and Sheila Brown.
“I’ve been a part of this community for over 40 years,” Ioffredo said in her opening statement to the council. “I’ve worked at Picattinny for 20 years, I’ve also had a business here in the community. This is my home.”
Schultz, a Republican, resigned July 23. He was serving a term set to expire December 31, 2028.
Ioffredo will serve until the next election and the winner of that election will serve the remainder of the term.
