BOONTON TOWNSHIP — On Monday, August 26, 2024, Boonton Township police patrols conducted routine surveillance on Kingsland Road when they observed a vehicle with no license plates stopped in the roadway.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers contacted the driver, Paul Sanchez, 28, of Boonton. Open containers of alcohol were visible in the driver’s compartment.

After further conversation with Mr. Sanchez, officers conducted standardized field sobriety tests, leading to his arrest for driving while intoxicated (DWI). Mr. Sanchez was transported to Boonton Township police headquarters, where a breath test revealed a blood alcohol content (BAC) twice the legal limit.

He was subsequently charged with DWI, unlicensed operation, operating an unregistered vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, possession of an open container in a motor vehicle, and reckless driving. Mr. Sanchez was released to a responsible party, and a future court date is pending.

Editors Note: The court’s rules require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
