RANDOLPH — Township Manager Gregory V. Poff II will retire next month, closing a nearly 30-year career in New Jersey local government, and Eric J. Schubiger will succeed him as Randolph’s next Township Manager.

The Township Council appointed Schubiger at its Thursday, October 8 meeting, effective Monday, November 9. Poff and Schubiger will work together on the transition that week, and Poff’s last day as Township Manager will be Friday, November 13.

Poff has served as Randolph’s Township Manager since July 1, 2022. As the township’s chief executive officer, he oversees day-to-day municipal operations, including budgets, personnel and labor relations, procurement, risk management, infrastructure and emergency management, and serves as the primary staff liaison to the Township Council.

Among his accomplishments, Poff secured New Jersey Highlands Council funding for the first Randolph Township Environmental Guidebook, made strategic investments in the township’s information technology and cybersecurity infrastructure, and oversaw the township’s Fourth Round affordable housing requirements.

Poff previously served as Sussex County Administrator, Business Administrator for Rockaway Township and Township Manager for Byram Township. He first worked for Randolph as Assistant Township Manager from 1999 to 2004.

“I thank the Randolph Township Council, department heads, staff, and residents for their contributions that make Randolph Township an exceptional place to live and work. It has been my privilege to finish my public service career in the community that gave me my start almost thirty years ago,” said Poff.

Schubiger brings more than 27 years of municipal government and public-sector experience to Randolph. He currently serves as Township Administrator for Cinnaminson Township, a post he has held since 2018, and as part-time Township Administrator for New Hanover Township since May. He previously served as Township Manager of Eastampton Township and Assistant Township Manager of East Windsor Township.

His background includes municipal budgeting, collective bargaining, personnel management, economic and community development, open space preservation, grant writing, public communications, intergovernmental coordination and parks and recreation management. He holds a Master of Science in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a concentration in sports and recreation management, and has completed graduate certificate programs in leadership and management, organizational behavior and strategic management. He is pursuing a Doctorate in Public Administration at Liberty University.

“I am honored to serve as Randolph’s Township Manager and grateful to the Township Council for their confidence in selecting me for this role. Randolph’s rich history and commitment to high-quality public services make this an especially meaningful opportunity. I look forward to working closely with the Township’s dedicated staff and professionals to support the Council’s priorities and deliver excellent service to Randolph residents. I am excited to become part of this community and contribute to its continued success,” said Schubiger.

Mayor Mark H. Forstenhausler welcomed Schubiger while recognizing Poff’s contributions to the township.

“I am truly delighted to welcome Eric Schubiger as Randolph’s new Township Manager, following a thoughtful and extensive search to find the right person to succeed outgoing Manager Greg Poff,” said Forstenhausler. “From the moment we met Eric, it was clear that his deep experience in municipal management and recreation and his genuine commitment to community service made him an exceptional fit for our Township. He brings not only professional expertise but also a collaborative spirit that aligns beautifully with Randolph’s values.”

“I also want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Greg Poff for his dedicated service to our community,” Forstenhausler continued. “His leadership, professionalism and steady guidance have left a lasting impact on Randolph, and we are truly grateful for all he has done. With Eric stepping into this role, I am confident he will be a tremendous asset to our community, and I genuinely look forward to working with him as we continue moving Randolph forward together.”

Councilwoman Christine Carey led the Township Council’s search committee, which worked with Jersey Professional Management consultants.

“With the assistance of Jersey Professional Management consultants, the Randolph Council undertook an extensive search for a new Township Manager. We received resumes from more than 45 applicants, and the search committee spent several months reviewing resumes and interviewing candidates. During the process, it was clear that the search attracted many qualified applicants who view Randolph as a highly desirable Township in which to work. We are very fortunate to have Eric Schubiger joining Randolph Township as our new Township Manager,” said Carey.
