MADISON — Martin Heller and his family, together with Carol Armour, President and CEO of the Greater Morristown YMCA, held a dedication ceremony in memory of the late Margaret M. Heller at Harmony House Adult Day Center on Division Street, on Monday, October 28.

Known affectionately as “Peggy”, a bronze plaque was installed in her name, commemorating her devoted commitment to providing a safe and caring place for cognitively impaired adults suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Peggy’s wish was to create a haven for these friends in order to provide them with an outlet to get together, sing songs, play games, and enjoy each other’s company, in a safe and nurturing environment. In addition to providing friends with a safe haven under the guidance of Micheline Hill, a certified person of elder care, this also enabled their caregivers to enjoy a much needed respite from providing round the clock care.

Active in 49 charities, Peggy was awarded the Unsung Heroine’s Award for the Protection of the Elderly by Senator Bill Bradley and the Thomas Kean Award for Outstanding Service to Senior Citizens.

Additionally, she received the Outstanding Service Award of Family Service of Morris County and the New Jersey Volunteer Service Award for Children and Families. Today, five years after the opening of Harmony House, over 20 families send their loved ones to Harmony House each week, which made Peggy extremely proud. Harmony House will always be a place for friends, thanks to the kindness and generosity of Peggy.
